LIHAY BENDAYAN (Technique, page 78) is professor of violin and chamber music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Israel. He is on the faculty of the EON International Online Music Academy in South Korea and presents an innovative ‘Master Your Violin’ course at the iClassical Academy.
TATJANA GOLDBERG (Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, page 54) is a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory. In 2016 she was awarded a PhD from City, University of London, and in 2019 her book Pioneer Violin Virtuose in the Early Twentieth Century was published by Routledge. She teaches the violin at the Purcell School as well as privately.
FLORIAN LEONHARD (Luigi Cavallini, page 48) is a violin maker, restorer and expert. His company has handled the sale of many of the world’s most prestigious instruments, and is known for true copies of old Italian violins. He regularly sits on the panels of international competitions, and is a consultant to leading orchestras and soloists.
MICHEL LORGE (Making Matters, page 70) has an academic background and was formerly a barrister in Brussels. He is currently a charity fundraiser and plays the violin and cello. Over the past 30 years he has acquired a solid knowledge of violin and bow making.
JENS STENZ (In Focus, page 61) studied at the Welsh School of Violin Making and worked in Copenhagen with Emil Hjorth & Sons before opening his own workshop in Aarhus, Denmark, in 1986. He has carried out research on the history of Danish violin makers.
JACQUELINE THOMAS (Masterclass, page 72) has been the cellist of the Brodsky Quartet since the age of ten. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the group has performed more than 3,000 concerts worldwide and made over 70 acclaimed recordings, including 2020’s Beethoven Lates.
