(Trade Secrets, page 60) is an award-winning violin maker and co-founder of Temple Violins in Hudson, NY, US. He also teaches varnishing at the University of New Hampshire’s summer Violin Craftsmanship Institute.
THOMAS EISNER
(A violinist in Bayreuth, page 40) is a violinist born in Buxton, Derbyshire. His first job was with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in Denmark, and since 1986 he has been a member of the first violin section of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
JENS ROSSBACH
(Making Matters, page 66) is a German violinist and violist and instrumental teacher who lives and works in France. In a team with his brother Arne and master violin maker Martin Horvat, he offers set-ups mainly in Vienna.
HELENA RUINARD
(Masterclass, page 68) performs as a violinist with chamber orchestras in London and the north of England and holds a teaching position with In Harmony Opera North. She regularly contributes to British music industry publications such as Classical Music, Music Teacher and The Musician.
DAPHNA SADEH-NEU
(Technique, page 76) is an Israeli-born double bassist and composer now based in the UK. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York before joining the Israeli-based East-West Ensemble. She was later the co-leader of the all-female group Eve’s Women.
JIM WOODHOUSE
(Books, page 90) has worked in the Cambridge University engineering department since 1986, as a lecturer, then reader, then professor, and now emeritus professor. His interests are in the modelling, measurement and prediction of vibration in complex structures, including musical instruments.
