1 South Korean violinist Anna Im, 25, has won the ArsClassica International Competition for Soloists, which took place online. She is engaged for audio and video recordings in historical locations throughout Italy, valued at €30,000.
The other string laureate was South Korean cellist Seungyeon Baik, 25, who won third prize. All prizewinners will appear in a gala concert in Rome.
2 South Korean violinist Soyoung Yoon, 39, has been awarded the first prize of €20,000 at the inaugural Tokyo Classic Violin Competition. Second prize of €10,000 went to Russian violinist Andrey Baranov, 38, while third prize of €5,000 was won by Chinese violinist Meng Zou.
New York-based South Korean cellist Gaeun Kim, 20, has won first prize at the 2024 Schadt String Competition in Allentown, PA, US, receiving $12,000 and a solo performance with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, as well as further performance opportunities. Second prize of $5,000 was awarded to US cellist Megan Yip, 26, and third prize of $2,500 went to US cellist Aaron Wolff, 30.
3 Canadian cellist Andrew Byun, 25, has been awarded first prize at the Windsor Festival International String Competition in Windsor, UK, winning £5,000, a solo recording opportunity with Champs Hill Records, and further performance engagements. The second prize of £2,000 and the audience prize were won by Dutch violinist Leon Blekh, 24, while third prize of £1,000 went to US– Canadian cellist Leland Ko, 25.
