Violinist Vilde Frang receives 1734 ‘Rode’ Guarneri ‘del Gesù’ bit.ly/2V2LMoy
Vilde Frang has been granted the use of the 1734 ‘Rode’ Guarneri ’del Gesù’ violin. The Norwegian violinist (left) who previously played an 1864 Vuillaume, said: ‘Words cannot describe what such as Pierre Rode, Norbert a milestone the discovery of the the past by celebrated virtuosi “Rode” Guarneri has been for me.’ The violin has an illustrious history, having been played in Brainin and Kyung Wha Chung.

As of 9 October the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association will require proof of full vaccination for all audience members, staff and artists at LA Philpresented concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Masks will also be required. Along with their ticket, attendees will need to bring a photo ID and either their physical vaccination card, a picture of it, or a digital record.

Rachelle Hunt, violinist in the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, was told by a United Airlines flight attendant that she would not be able to board with her instrument and it would have to be checked into the hold. According to Hunt, when she showed the attendant the federal law that state airlines are required to accept violins as hand luggage if there is room, she was told: ‘We don’t go with federal law.’ ‘I was only able to board with my violin after a long argument because I refused to give in and was luckily able to speak with an understanding pilot,’ Hunt said.
