Anastasia Kobekina granted use of 1698 Stradivari cello bit.ly/3CkixOoRussian cellist Anastasia Kobekina has received use of the 1698 ‘De Kermadec-Bläss’ Stradivari cello, playing an instrument made in on loan from the Stradivari Foundation Habisreutinger. The 2 7-year-old had previously been 174 3 by G.B. Guadagnini. The cello, in the foundation’s possession since 1964, has most recently been played by Christine Hu of Trio Oreade from 2017 to 2021. The instrument has a poplar wood back and ribs and a pearwood scroll, a departure from the usual maple.

The Royal College of Music (RCM) opened its music museum on 5 October. The permanent display features 56 instruments, all in playable condition, taken from the 15,000 items in the RCM’s collection.
These include the world’s oldest guitar and earliest keyboard instrument with strings, as well as distinct stringed instruments. The museum was built as part of the RCM’s £40 million campus transformation project.
D’Addario Foundation funds music education programmes bit.ly/3beGkmZThe D’Addario Foundation has awarded $487,500 to music education programmes across the US and Canada. The funds go towards both monetary and product grants to enable organisations to continue their education and community programmes following the difficulties of the past year. Funds have been awarded to organisations that offer opportunities for music mentorship, immersive music education in schools and percussion-focused programming among other initiatives.
