EVAN DAVENPORT
(Trade Secrets, page 58) is a gold medal-winning instrument maker. He studied at North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. His instruments have won at the International Society of Bassists and Violin Society of America competitions. Since 2017 he has been working at Robertson and Sons in Albuquerque, NM.
SEBASTIAN GONZALEZ
(Cello bridge design, page 50) is a physicist by training, who combines his technical expertise with his love of music, utilising computer simulations, artificial intelligence and hands-on experiments to unravel the mechanics behind the violin’s unique sound.
OSKAR FALTA
(Boris Pergamenschikow, page 44) studied at London’s Royal Academy of Music, and earned his doctorate at the University of British Columbia in 2019. He now teaches cello at the Musikschule der Stadt Ulm in Germany.
JORDI PINTO
(In Focus, page 55) is the current director of the Casa Parramon workshop, founded in Barcelona in 1897. His major passion is the study and investigation of Catalan and Spanish violin makers from the 18th century to the present day.
GENNADY FILIMONOV
(Richard Otto Gläsel, page 36) is a violinist and instrument dealer based in Seattle, where he is a member of the Seattle Symphony and founding member of the Odeon Quartet. He has performed on more than 850 soundtracks and is the owner of Filimonov Fine Violins.
JACQUES POULLOT
(Making Matters, page 64) trained as a bow maker in Mirecourt under Bernard Ouchard. He opened his own business in 1983. His bows have won several prizes at international competitions and since 2021 he has been an accredited bow expert at Dijon Court of Appeal.
