NICOLAS DUPONT
(Technique, page 76) is a Belgian violinist. He has made 25 recordings and premiered around 90 pieces. He now divides his time between teaching at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, orchestral leading, and solo and chamber concerts.
COLIN GOUGH
(Acoustic measurements, page 52) is an emeritus professor of physics at Birmingham University, UK, where he also led the resident Haywood String Quartet for almost 30 years. He combines his scientific and musical interests in leading research on instruments of the violin family.
KORINTHIA A. KLEIN
(Customer relations, page 32) is a luthier, musician and writer based in Milwaukee, WI, US, where she has run her own shop since 2008. She builds violins and violas, and works to keep student instruments functioning. Her latest book is entitled My Violin Needs Help! A Repair Diagnostics Guide for Players and Teachers.
WIM RAYMAEKERS
(Making Matters, page 70) studied art history at the University of Louvain and violin making in Puurs, Belgium. He has worked as a restorer for the Museum Vleeshuis in Antwerp. From 2012 to 2017 he taught violin making, organology and restoration techniques at the School of Arts of the University College Ghent.
MICHAEL RIEBER
(Masterclass, page 72) studied the double bass with Ulrich Lau at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. He is now first solo double bassist with the NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, and in 2007 was appointed professor for double bass at the city’s University for Music and Theatre.
ANDREA SCHUDTZ
(In Focus, page 61) attended the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, Italy. He now lives and works in Cremona. His instruments are made following the classical models of the Cremonese School, such as Stradivari, Amati and Guarneri ‘del Gesù’ with a personal touch.
